Industry-Leading DAF Truck Remapping & ECU Tuning
With comprehensive DAF model coverage on our platform and a global network of more than 300 trained and authorised agents, we deliver DAF-specific remaps that extract real gains in power, torque and fuel efficiency
A Popular Brand, Improved
DAF Trucks is the UK's best-selling heavy commercial vehicle brand, and has been for years. The Eindhoven-based manufacturer, a subsidiary of PACCAR since 1996, holds over 27% of the UK heavy-duty truck market, which means more operators run DAF trucks than any other brand on British roads. That dominance is built on a combination of competitive pricing, strong residual values, low running costs and a reliable dealer network. The PACCAR engines that power the current range are designed to deliver high output from compact, efficient architectures, and that engineering approach makes DAF trucks particularly responsive to ECU remapping.
Years Of Expertise
Our R&D team has spent years developing calibrations for DAF's PACCAR engine platforms, covering the 6.7-litre PX-7 through the 10.8-litre MX-11 and 12.9-litre MX-13. With comprehensive DAF model coverage on our platform and a global network of more than 300 trained and authorised agents, we deliver DAF-specific remaps that extract real gains in power, torque and fuel efficiency while protecting the reliability that keeps your trucks earning.
The Smart Business Case For DAF Remapping
DAF trucks are already engineered with running costs in mind, which makes the fuel savings from a remap even more commercially compelling. Our DAF remaps optimise combustion efficiency at the ECU level, reducing diesel consumption per mile without changing how the truck is driven or maintained. Across a fleet covering hundreds of thousands of miles annually, a 5% to 15% reduction in fuel consumption has a substantial impact on operating costs.
For a brand that already commands the UK market partly on the strength of its total cost of ownership, a remap takes that advantage further.
Beyond fuel, the additional torque from a remap changes the way a loaded DAF performs. Drivers pulling heavy trailers along A roads or working regional routes with frequent gradient changes notice it immediately. There's more pulling power available at lower revs, which means the truck works less hard to maintain speed under load. That translates into fewer gear changes, smoother progress on gradients, and a less fatiguing driving experience over a full shift. For fleet managers, driver satisfaction and retention are real concerns, and a truck that drives better keeps drivers happier for longer.
Owner-operators running a single DAF will feel the difference just as clearly. A remapped XF or CF delivers noticeably stronger performance on loaded climbs and overtakes, and the improved fuel economy helps offset the running costs that eat into margins every month. The truck you already rely on simply works harder for you.
None of this matters if the modification puts your truck at risk. Our DAF remaps are developed by our UK-based R&D team using engine-specific data for each PACCAR platform. We work within the hardware's safe operating limits and never push beyond what the engine is built to handle. Every remap includes a lifetime warranty on the software, and before any work begins, we carry out a full diagnostic health check to confirm the truck is in good mechanical condition. Your original factory map is backed up to a dedicated server, making the entire process reversible at any point.
Understanding DAF's PACCAR Engine Range
DAF's current truck range runs on three PACCAR diesel engine platforms, each serving a distinct market segment. Understanding how these platforms differ and how they're factory-calibrated is central to developing remaps that deliver genuine performance gains without compromising durability.
Perfect, Precise, Performance
The 6.7-litre PACCAR PX-7 is a four-cylinder unit producing 170 to 260hp, designed for the LF urban distribution truck. It's a compact engine, and is essentially a re-badged Cummins B6.7, customised for PACCAR and built for stop-start city work and lighter regional duties. The 10.8-litre MX-11 is a six-cylinder engine rated from 300 to 450hp, powering the CF and XD ranges across distribution, regional haulage and construction applications. The MX-11 has become one of the most popular engines in UK transport because it offers a strong balance between performance and fuel efficiency, while weighing less than 13-litre alternatives. At the top of the range sits the 12.9-litre MX-13, a six-cylinder engine available from 390 to 530hp that powers the XF, XG and XG+ long-haul tractors as well as heavier CF applications. The MX-13 is PACCAR's flagship diesel, engineered for sustained high-output work over long distances.
PACCAR uses the same engine block architecture across multiple power ratings within each family. An MX-13 rated at 430hp from the factory shares its core components with the 530hp version. The output difference is controlled entirely through ECU calibration: fuel injection timing, boost pressure targets, torque limiters and exhaust aftertreatment parameters. PACCAR calibrates conservatively to ensure the engine meets Euro 6 emissions standards across all operating conditions and ambient temperatures, which leaves genuine headroom that a precision remap can safely access. The hardware is already built for more than the standard map asks of it.
DAF trucks use Delphi ETC3 engine management units in Euro 6 models, with earlier trucks running Bosch EDC7 controllers. Our R&D team has developed deep expertise in both platforms and mapped the calibration architecture of each, enabling us to create remaps that operate precisely within the tolerances of the specific ECU generation fitted to your truck.
Here are some examples of the gains our remaps deliver across the DAF range:
Every one of these gains is achieved within the safe operating parameters of the engine, ancillaries and drivetrain. No compromises on reliability, no shortcuts on engineering.

How We Remap Your DAF
Full Diagnostics
The process starts with a full diagnostic health check. We connect to the truck's ECU and review all system parameters and fault codes before any remap work begins. If we find an existing issue that needs attention, we flag it. We won't remap a truck that isn't mechanically ready to benefit from it.
Backup
With the health check complete, we take a full backup of the factory map and store it on a dedicated server. That backup is permanent. If you ever need to revert to the original DAF calibration for any reason, whether that's a warranty claim, a change of operator, or simply personal preference, we can restore it.
Installation
For most DAF trucks, the remap is installed through the OBD diagnostic port. Our agents connect to the Delphi ETC3 or Bosch EDC7 unit, upload the new calibration, and verify all readings post-install. Some Delphi ETC3 configurations on newer Euro 6 models may require bench tuning or a more specialist service. Please contact us for more information.
Fast, Efficient & Safe
Either approach is non-invasive, and the truck is typically back on the road within a few hours. All work is carried out at your premises, so your DAF stays where it needs to be, and downtime stays as short as possible. You can also bring your truck to our headquarters just outside Bristol in the South West of England if that suits your operation better.
Flexible Service For DAF Operators
Most of our DAF truck remapping is carried out at your premises. Whether you're based at a transport depot, a distribution centre, a construction yard or an independent workshop, one of our trained and authorised agents will come to you. Your trucks stay on-site, and the disruption to your day is minimal. You're also welcome to bring your truck to our headquarters just outside Bristol if you prefer.
With over 300 authorised agents across the UK and internationally, there's likely an Avon Tuning HD installer within easy reach of your operation. Every agent in our network is trained to our standards and uses remap files developed by our UK-based R&D team, so calibration quality is consistent wherever you are.
Running a fleet of DAF trucks? We can schedule remaps in phases, so you're not taking too many vehicles out of service at once. Many fleet operators start with two or three trucks to evaluate the results, then roll out across the rest of the fleet once they've seen the fuel data and driver feedback.

Common Questions About DAF Remapping
DAF's standard warranty terms do not specifically accommodate aftermarket ECU modifications, so a remap could affect your warranty status for engine-related claims. Most operators who remap are either outside the warranty period or have weighed the fuel and performance benefits against the remaining warranty coverage. We recommend reviewing your specific warranty terms before proceeding, and we're happy to talk you through the considerations.
The remap itself is typically completed within a few hours, including the diagnostic health check beforehand and verification afterwards. Work is usually carried out at your premises, though you can also bring your truck to our headquarters near Bristol.
Our remaps are developed specifically for each PACCAR engine platform using data gathered from our own R&D and dyno testing. We operate within the hardware's safe operating limits, and the gains we deliver reflect the headroom PACCAR has engineered into the engine architecture. Every remap includes a lifetime software warranty, and your original map is stored on a dedicated server so it can be restored at any time.
Fuel savings depend on the engine variant, load profile, driving style and route conditions. We typically see reductions of 5% to 15%, with the largest improvements on underpowered trucks hauling heavy loads along A roads, where the engine is working hardest and the additional torque makes the biggest difference. Drivers use less throttle to maintain speed when loaded, which contributes to lower consumption over time.
Yes. We carry out all HGV remapping work at your premises and can schedule the remaps across your fleet in phases. This keeps disruption to a minimum and lets you evaluate the results on a few trucks before committing to the full rollout.
With over 300 authorised agents across the UK and internationally, we cover most areas. Use our agent locator to find the nearest installer to your depot, or contact us and we'll put you in touch with an agent who covers your location.
Completely. We back up your original factory map to a dedicated server before making any changes. If you want to revert to the standard DAF calibration at any point, we can restore it at no extra cost.
