With over a decade of heavy-duty remapping experience and a global network of more than 300 trained and authorised agents, we deliver MAN-specific calibrations that improve power, torque and fuel efficiency

German Engineering Improved

MAN has been building trucks in Germany since the 1950s, and the brand has earned a loyal following in the UK for good reason. The TGX is a serious long-haul contender; the TGS handles heavy construction and haulage work; and the TGM covers medium-duty distribution. There are still plenty of TGA models in daily service too. Across the range, MAN trucks are known for being well-engineered, durable and good value for money, which is exactly why operators keep running them.

Proven Performance Improvements

Our R&D team has developed calibrations across the full MAN diesel range, from the D08 in the TGL through to the 15.2-litre D38 that powers the flagship TGX. With over a decade of heavy-duty remapping experience and a global network of more than 300 trained and authorised agents, we deliver MAN-specific calibrations that improve power, torque and fuel efficiency without compromising the reliability your operation depends on.

The Smart Business Case For MAN Remapping

Fuel is the single biggest variable cost in any transport operation, and it is the area where a MAN remap delivers the most immediate return. The trucks that benefit most are the ones working hardest: a TGX pulling a full load along A roads, climbing gradients, working through the constant speed changes that mixed routes demand. That is where the D26 engine is under real load, and where improved torque and fuelling efficiency translate directly into fewer litres per mile.

Operators running these kinds of routes typically see fuel savings of between 5% and 15%, depending on the application and driving style.

The torque gains are where drivers feel the difference first. A remapped TGX or TGS pulls harder through the midrange, meaning the TipMatic gearbox holds a gear longer on inclines rather than hunting for a lower ratio. Loaded overtakes require less planning. The engine is not working as hard to maintain speed, and that has a knock-on effect on driver fatigue over a full shift. For operators running TGMs on regional distribution, the improved low-end response from the D08 or D15 engine makes laden urban driving noticeably easier, particularly on hilly routes.

If you are an owner-operator running a single TGX or TGS, the case is just as straightforward. Better throttle response on loaded A roads, improved fuel economy over the course of a working week, and a truck that feels like it has genuine reserves of power when you need them. For most operators, the remap pays for itself in fuel savings alone within a few months.

Every MAN calibration we develop is engineered within the safe operating limits of the engine, turbo and drivetrain. We never push components beyond what the hardware can handle. Your original map is backed up to a dedicated server before any work begins, and every remap comes with a lifetime software warranty. A full diagnostic health check is carried out before we touch the ECU, so if there is an existing issue, we find it first. The truck that leaves is more capable than the truck that arrived, and just as reliable.

Understanding MAN Engine Platforms

MAN builds its trucks around a tiered set of engine platforms, each developed for a specific weight class and duty cycle. The D38 is the flagship: a 15.2-litre inline six producing up to 640 HP, and it powers the top-spec TGX models used in heavy long-haul and high-gross-weight operations. It is a serious engine with a strong following among operators who need sustained pulling power. Our TGX 540 remap takes this platform from 540 HP to 620 HP with an additional 375 Nm of torque, which makes a real difference on loaded long-distance work.

Better Performance Across The Range

The D26 sits below it and is the most common engine across the TGX and TGS ranges. At 12.4 litres, it covers a wide power band from around 430 to 510 HP in factory trim, and it is the engine we remap most frequently on MAN trucks. The D26 responds well because MAN, like every other truck manufacturer, uses the same engine block across multiple power ratings. A D26 rated at 430 HP is mechanically the same unit as one rated at 510 HP. The difference is in the factory calibration. We adjust the software to make better use of what the hardware already has.

At the medium-duty end, the D15 is a 9.0-litre engine producing between 330 and 400 HP. It powers lighter TGX and TGS variants as well as the TGM. The D08, at 4.6 litres, covers the TGL and lighter TGM applications. Both respond to remapping in the same way as the larger platforms: improved torque through the mid-range, better throttle response under load, and measurable fuel savings on repeated routes. MAN also still has a significant number of TGA models on the road, and we cover those older engine platforms too.

How We Remap Your MAN

How We Remap Your MAN

Image - MAN Trucks

Initial Diagnostics

The process starts with a full diagnostic health check. Before we make any changes to the ECU, we confirm that the engine, turbo and emissions systems are all in good working order. If there is a fault code or an underlying issue, we flag it before going any further. This protects you and ensures the remap is applied to a truck that is in the right condition to benefit from it.

Image - MAN Trucks

Original Map Saved

Once the health check is complete, we take a full backup of the original map and store it on a dedicated server. This backup is always available if you ever need to revert, whether for a warranty inspection, a change of operator, or any other reason.

New Map Installed

The remap is then installed, typically via the OBD port. Post-installation, we run a second diagnostic check and road test to verify that everything is performing as expected.

Flexible Service For MAN Operators

Most of our MAN remapping work is carried out on-site. One of our trained and authorised agents will come to your depot, workshop or yard and complete the full process there, from initial diagnostics through to post-install verification. For fleet operators, this means minimal disruption. No trucks off the road for longer than necessary, no wasted mileage driving to a workshop.

Our agent network covers the UK and extends globally, so wherever your MAN trucks are based, there is likely an authorised agent within reach. Use the agent locator to find your closest one.

If you are based in or near the South West of England, you can bring your MAN to Avon Tuning HQ just outside Bristol. We have a full workshop with Dimsport dynamometer facilities, which means we can carry out dyno testing as part of the remap process. This is particularly useful for operators who want verified before-and-after figures for their TGX or TGS.

If you run a fleet of MAN trucks and want to remap multiple vehicles, we can work with you to schedule a phased rollout that minimises disruption to your operations. Whether that means remapping two or three trucks at a time during planned downtime, or working through the fleet on a rolling basis, we will find an approach that fits your schedule.

Common Questions About MAN Remapping

A:

MAN does not officially endorse aftermarket ECU modifications, and any changes to the engine management software may affect your manufacturer's warranty. In practice, most of the MAN trucks we remap are outside their original warranty period, and many are older TGA and early TGX models. If your truck is still under warranty, we recommend discussing this with your dealer before proceeding. Our remaps are engineered within the safe operating parameters of the engine and drivetrain; every original map is backed up, and the process is fully reversible.

A:

A MAN remap is typically completed within a few hours, including the initial diagnostic health check and post-install verification. Most work is carried out at your premises by one of our authorised agents, so there is no need to take the truck off the road for an extended period. If you are based near our headquarters just outside Bristol, you can also bring your truck to us directly.

A:

No. Every calibration we develop is engineered within the safe operating limits of the engine, turbo and drivetrain. We do not push components beyond what the hardware is designed to handle. A full diagnostic health check is carried out before any remap to confirm the truck is in good condition, and the original map is backed up to a dedicated server. Every remap comes with a lifetime software warranty.

A:

Most MAN operators see fuel savings of between 5% and 15%. The biggest gains come from trucks that are working hardest: pulling heavy loads along A roads, climbing gradients, and dealing with frequent speed changes. A TGX or TGS that spends most of its time under load on mixed routes will see a more noticeable improvement than one cruising at a steady speed. Driving style and load profile both play a part, but the improvements are consistent and measurable across the D26 and D38 engine families.

A:

Yes. We work with fleet operators across the UK and can schedule remaps to minimise disruption to your operations. Whether you want to remap your entire fleet in a phased rollout or start with a few trucks to evaluate the results, we will work around your schedule. Our agents carry out the work on-site at your depot, so the trucks do not need to go anywhere.

A:

Our network of more than 300 trained and authorised agents covers the UK and extends globally. Use the agent locator on our website to find your closest agent. If there is not one near you, get in touch, and we will find a solution.

A:

Completely. Your original factory map is backed up to a dedicated server before any work begins. If you ever need to revert to the original calibration, whether for a warranty inspection, a change of operator, or any other reason, we can restore it.

A:

Yes. We have TGA range calibrations and continue to support older MAN platforms. The TGA may be out of production, but there are still thousands on the road doing real work. If your model is listed on our platform, we can remap it. If it is not listed, get in touch and our R&D team will advise.
