The Badge Is Not The Ceiling
Case IH is unusually literal about naming. A Puma 150 makes 150hp, a Magnum 340 makes 340hp, and a Steiger 500 makes 500hp. That is useful to an owner because it makes the headroom easy to see. Our Tier 4B Puma 150 calibration takes that tractor to 205hp, which puts it above the Puma 195 parked next to it in the dealer's yard. The number on the bonnet records where Case IH decided that engine should sit in the range. It is not the hardware ceiling.

Mapped Across The Range
We have been remapping Case IH equipment since 2014. Our platform covers the Farmall and Quantum compacts, the Luxxum and Vestrum, the Maxxum and Puma, the Magnum and Optum, the Steiger and Steiger Quadtrac articulateds, the Axial-Flow combines, the Patriot sprayers and the Farmlift telehandlers, together with the legacy machines still earning their keep: the MX, MXM and MXU, the CVX and CPX, the STX articulateds and the Dorado. Every calibration is written in-house by our UK R&D team for the specific engine in front of us.
The Smart Business Case For Case IH Remapping
Fuel is the highest controllable cost on most farms, and it is where a Case IH remap pays for itself first. By adjusting injection pressure and timing, we improve fuel efficiency by between 5% and 15% on most machines. The savings show up soonest where the engine is loaded and staying loaded: primary cultivation, ploughing in heavy ground, a loaded trailer on a bank. A tractor asked to work near the top of its rev range all day has the most to give back.
Torque is what the operator feels. A Puma 165 carrying another 200Nm holds forward speed through the wet patch instead of the transmission stepping back, so the field takes fewer passes and less time on the headland. On a CVX or an Optum, the change is smoother again, because there is less shifting for the transmission to do in the first place. Contractors billing by the acre notice it in the day rate.
Case IH is heavily represented on large arable ground and in contracting fleets, where the working window is the constraint. A Magnum or a Quadtrac with more torque underneath it pulls a wider implement at the same forward speed, and the drilling that has to be finished before the weather turns gets finished. On the Axial-Flow combines, the gain is throughput at the header.
If you are weighing up a bigger tractor, it is worth checking what the one in the yard can already do. In many cases, you already own the machine you were about to buy.
None of it comes at the cost of reliability. We calibrate within the safe operating limits of the engine and the driveline behind it, because there is no sense in adding torque the transmission was never specified to carry. Every remap starts with a full diagnostic health check; the original map is backed up on our own server before we touch anything, and the software carries a lifetime warranty against malfunction.
Understanding Case IH Engine Platforms
Case IH is part of CNH, and its engines come from FPT Industrial. The small end runs 3.2 and 3.4 litres through the Quantum, Farmall and Luxxum. Above that, the NEF engines take over at 4.5 and 6.7 litres, and above those, the Cursor engines at 8.7, 11.1, 12.9 and 15.9 litres power the Magnum, the Steiger, the Quadtrac, and the larger Axial-Flow combines. Older machines on our platform run the 8.3-litre and the 6.6-litre. Which family you have and which emissions stage determine the calibration job. A Tier 4A Puma and a Tier 4B Puma wearing the same badge are not the same piece of work.
Release The Full Potential
The 6.7-litre is the clearest illustration of what modular manufacturing means for an owner. On our platform, that single block appears in the Maxxum 115 at 117hp, across the whole Puma range up to 243hp in the Puma 240 CVX, in the Magnum 180, 200 and 240, and in the Optum, where the Tier 5 Optum 300 leaves the factory at 313hp. That is close to 200hp of difference between the mildest version and the strongest, spread across four model ranges. The tractors are different machines. The block is not.
Case IH is open about this in places. Our published Puma model pages state that the Puma 150 and Puma 165 share the same engine, turbo, and injection system, which is why both tune to 205hp and 970Nm. Two badges, two prices, one set of hardware. When the difference between the tractor you bought and the one above it is a calibration, the question of whether there is potential for improved performance answers itself.
The Cursor engines tell the same story further up. The 12.9-litre runs from 388hp in the Steiger 380 to 628hp in the Quadtrac 620, and carries the larger Axial-Flow combines as well. That untapped potential is real, but it has a limit, and the limit is not always the engine. The transmission, the axles and the linkage all have design ceilings of their own. Knowing the safe limits is part of our expertise.

How We Remap Your Case IH
The Health Check First
Every job starts with a full diagnostic health check. If there is a fault sitting on the machine, we want to know before we touch the software, not after. Once it has a clean bill of health, we back up the original map to our own server, so the machine can be returned to its factory calibration at any time in the future.
Connect And Calibrate
Calibration is performed via the OBD port on most Case IH machines, though some ECUs require bench access. Your agent will confirm which applies when the work is booked. Most installations are completed within a few hours.
PTO Power Verification
We then, where possible, verify the result on a dyno. Many of our agents provide this, but where it’s not available, you still have the peace of mind of knowing all our maps are dyno-tested at our HQ. For combines, sprayers, and telehandlers, we verify against the machine in use and agree on what success looks like before we start.
Quick, Clean & Reversible
Most installs happen on your own farm or yard, carried out by a local authorised agent with the machine back in work the same day, typically within a couple of hours. If you are not too far from our HQ just outside Bristol, you are welcome to bring the machine to us instead, where our R&D team and dyno are on hand.

Most Case IH remaps are carried out on the farm. We have a network of 400+ trained and authorised agents across the UK and internationally, and your local agent arrives with everything needed for the diagnostic check, the install and, when available, the PTO verification. In the middle of a busy season, that matters, because the machine is back at work the same day.
If you are based in the South West, or not too far from our HQ just outside Bristol, you are welcome to bring the machine to us. Our workshop has full dyno facilities, and you get direct access to the R&D team who wrote the calibration.
Farms and contractors running several Case IH machines can schedule work across the fleet, ensuring there is always a tractor available. Combines and sprayers are usually best done outside their season. Talk to us about phasing it around your year.

Common Questions About Case IH Remapping
A remap is a modification to the engine software and manufacturers can decline warranty claims relating to it. Most of the machines we work on are past the manufacturer warranty period. If yours is still inside it, speak to your dealer first and then to us, and we will tell you whether it is worth waiting.
More than most owners expect. Our published figures show the Puma 150 and Puma 165 running the same engine, turbo and injection system, and both calibrate to 205hp and 970Nm. That takes a Puma 150 past the factory output of a Puma 195.
No. We calibrate inside the torque input the transmission was designed around, whether that is a Powershift, an ActiveDrive or a CVXDrive. We will not write a map that puts more through the driveline than it was specified to carry, even where the engine could produce it.
No. We work within the safe operating limits of the engine and everything behind it. Every job begins with a diagnostic health check, and if the machine has a problem we will tell you before we touch the software.
Yes. Both are on our platform with published figures, and the Farmlift telehandlers are covered as well. On a combine the gain shows up as throughput at the header, so tell us what the machine is struggling with and we will tell you what is available.
